Philosophy

I do not teach; I coach. Teaching is the projection from one individual to another, whereas coaching is the bidirectional and cyclical sharing of knowledge that helps engage and encourage both parties to grow. Students have different learning styles (tactile, auditory, visual) and it is my responsibility to adapt and deliver a comprehensive approach in conveying information. This is best applied through gauging the students' understanding by asking them to be reflexive and express their interpretations of the material. In my experience, this creates deeper learning that projects beyond the classroom into their lives and become better people.

 

My pedagogical goals are to continue teaching with student-centred learning and design courses that push the understanding of entrepreneurship pedagogy. It is increasingly important to contribute to “Open Source” materials that drive down costs for students reducing the barriers to education. With this determination, I hope to further contribute my knowledge and expertise to move Canadian and global entrepreneurship forward.
